By decoding genes, we can discover hidden traces of life, whether from animals, plants, fungi, or microorganisms.

The exhibition “Breaking the Code” shows how modern methods – from paternity testing to eDNA from water, soil, and air – provide new insights into biodiversity. They reveal what would otherwise remain hidden: migrating wild animals, rare plants, and inconspicuous fungi.

To complement the texts and illustrations in the exhibition, ten researchers give a personal insight into their work in short video messages in “Meet the Scientists”.

Part of this exhibition is accessible virtually here. We wish you an exciting journey of discovery.
